Home Work Out Day - Saturday

Well, to be perfectly honest, after working out for 3 days straight, I wasn't exactly motivated to get up and go out today. I procrastinated until 10:30. I bribed the kids into making it an adventure and we hit the dirt nature trail for a jog/walk. The kids actually did pretty well considering...they were tired and hot and it wasn't on their "agenda" for the day (you know, it DID interrupt their TV watching...LOL). I'm just glad that I got out and I'm showing a good example for the kids.

Exercise:
2 mile walk/jog

Diet:
Breakfast: bowl of Special K Fruit & Yogurt cereal w/2% milk
Water: 1.5 .5 liter bottles of water
Lunch: 3/4 left over Taco Bell soft taco

Work Out Day-Cardio/Legs

Work Out:
35 minutes elliptical; level 3; average speed: 72; machine tally calories burned: 484
13+ minutes treadmill; average speed 5.0 mph; machine tally calories burned: 106
Seated Leg Press: 3 x 20; 60lb
Standing Calf: 2 x 15; 40lb
Hip Adduction (inner): 100 reps @ 50lb
Hip Abduction (outer): 100 reps @ 30lb
Prone Leg Curl: 2 x 20 30lb
Seated Leg Curl: 2 x 20 30lb
Leg Extension: 4 x 10 30lb
60 Hanging Stomach crunches

Diet:
Breakfast: 1.5 cups of Special K Fruit & Yogurt cereal w/ 2% milk
Water: 3 .5 L bottles @ gym
Snack: 4 Reese's Pieces
Lunch: ham/turkey/cheese sandwich, 1/2 cup of macaroni salad
Snack: 5 Reese's Pieces
Water: 2 11 oz glasses
Dinner: left over ground turkey burrito w/lite sour cream, a pinch of cheddar cheese, salsa & lettuce, 8 doritos corn chips
Water: 2 11 oz glasses
Dessert: low-fat pudding cup w/a spoonful of lite cool whip on top

Most annoying and/or ODD thing that happened at the gym today: I was on the Hip Adduction machine, of which there are two of them, facing each other. There was a lady sitting on one and I took the open, free one. I was doing my thing and then she abruptly got off her machine, pushed her book over to my machine with her foot and then impatiently stood there, behind my machine, waiting for me to get off. First off, I do 100 and the reason I do 100 on that machine is because there are two machines and I don't feel that there is any pressure to get off immediately or hurry up. I first thought she was waiting for something else because it honestly didn't make any sense to me as to why she would be waiting for my machine when there is the EXACT same machine, OPEN, right THERE! So, I went about my business. She started waiting when I was at 40, so I still had 60 to go and I wasn't about to give up my machine or hurry up...seriously, why? If there wasn't another one open, then I would have worked her in, but there WAS. The EXACT same one!!! So, apparently, that pissed her off and she grabbed her book, thrust herself away from the machine in utter disgust with a huge sigh of annoyance and went to the Hip Abduction machine, which was directly next to the open Hip Adduction machine. I mean, seriously, WTF? So because of this, I have dubbed her the "mean black book lady" and she needs to step off. Beeeatch.

Work Out Day-Cardio/Arms/Chest/Back

I woke up with my neck out of shape and in a lot of pain, not to mention, I'm still sore from my arm work out on Wednesday (and other womanly aches, if you catch my drift) but I forged ahead and hit the gym. It was tempting to skip it since my daughter had another coughing fit this morning and actually asked to not go to the gym because she was "too sick"...but once I suggested actually NOT going, she freaked out because she wanted to see her favorite care provider there. So if anything, that was my motivation today. My work out went well, I was a tad frustrated with everything this morning for some unknown reason, not to mention, it wasn't easy getting around not being able to turn my head completely to the left.

Work Out:
35 minutes Elliptical; level 3; avg. rpm 72; total machine tally calories burned: 425

Diet:
Breakfast: 1 low-fat yoplait yogurt
Water: 4 .5 L bottles (at gym)
Lunch: leftover burrito size chicken enchilada with 2 pinches of cheese on top, 1 scoop of spanish rice and 8 small plain doritos
Water: 1 11oz glass
Dinner: 3 scoops of baked beans w/hot dog slices, 12 mini tater tots
Water: 2 11oz glasses
Dessert: 6 peanut butter M&M's

Weirdest thing at the gym today: Some bald water fountain drinking guy that kept running the water while staring at himself in the mirror. He would take a sip, stare, take a sip, stare....I thought it was just a fluke, until he came back and did it again. Weirdo.

Work Out Day-Cardio/Arms/Chest/Back

I feel invigorated. I had a great work out today. I sweat like a mad dog. I have the smell to go with the sweat, but it's all good. I feel empowered like I'm doing something again. I like this feeling.

Work Out:
35 minutes Elliptical; level 3; avg. rpm 74; total machine tally calories burned: 487
16+ minutes treadmill; avg mph 4.0; total machine tally calories burned: 100

Arm Curl (bicep): 2 x 20; 20 lb
Tricep Press: 2 x 20; 70 lb

Diet:
Breakfast: 1 low-fat yoplait yogurt
Water: 4 .5 L bottles (at gym)
Snack: 10 triscuits with cheese spread

Water: 1 11oz glass
Dinner: 1 chicken hot dog, 1 beef hot dog w/chili and a pinch of cheese on top, 1 forkful of macaroni salad and 15 baked fries w/chili on top.
Water: 2 11oz glasses

Most Annoying thing I saw at the gym today: FREAKING CELL PHONE TALKERS!! UGH!!! I honestly don't "GET" why people constantly talk on their cell phones while working out. You can't tell me that their work outs aren't effected by it because they aren't working out as hard, as fast, as much...they are too busy talking, thinking that everyone else wants to be as popular as they are at that moment. Not to mention, the people that think it's perfectly fine to just sit on the machine, talking away while people want to use that machine. Totally rude and inconsiderate.
Another annoying thing that happened today at the gym: Every day during the week, with exception to Wednesday, there is a fantastic lady that opens up daycare that is promptly there before 8 so that no one has to wait. Every Wednesday, there is another girl that comes, always 10 minutes late that shouts "THE CLOCK IS FAST IN THIS PLACE!" as soon as she runs in the door, dragging her 2 kids...then runs into the day care telling everyone that she was totally on time, but there was traffic (or insert numerous other excuses here) on her way to the gym but she SWEARS that her clock says 8 o'clock in her car. No apologies, nothing. Hate to break it to you babe, but your clock is slow...and so are you. Puts me off to get there all motivated to just have to wait 10 minutes before I can do anything.

I'm really starting to enjoy my 2 mile walk....I used to dread it because that's all that I did for a year with no change. But it's nice to be out in the fresh air and not being overloaded with the smell of powder air freshener and sweat from the gym. LOL

Saturday-A day of rest (but not from eating)

Egads. I was a porker today. I went out of my way to not eat breakfast because I KNEW that I would overdo it today and I did. Shocking. It was all planned out though...I was going to eat light all day, but my girlfriend wanted to come over and go out to lunch so I knew I would screw up there...and I did...and I already had plans to go out to eat with my parents tonight so I knew I would screw up there...and I did.

Fun.

Wednesday-A Day of Fun!

It's a good thing that I didn't go work out at the gym today. I was already planning on taking it off because I went to Disneyland, but also because my daughter has a cough and felt it best not to take her to the gym daycare as to not infect the other children. It worked out because I was wicked sore...much more sore than I anticipated that I would be...which is only indicitive of why I shouldn't have jumped in like I did.

Had a great day at Disney though....did a ton of walking at a fast pace...so that has to count for something??? LOL

Work Out Day-Cardio/Legs

For the record, trying to work out after over 2 weeks of just NOT and getting back into your normal routine is HARD. H.A.R.D.! I got there, all motivated since we didn't get a racquetball court...thinking, "I can DO this!" with all the energy in the world. I jumped on the ellipitical and went for it...I was working at 74 r.p.m.s like I was a pro....then about 7 minutes in, I started to lose steam and it just got worse from there. I was feeling like I was going to puke, etc. I just called it quits at 30 minutes and didn't attempt the 5 extra minutes because I *knew* I wouldn't make it. I can feel the bloating and extra weight today and I'm very disappointed in myself.

Monday-A Day of FUN!

Not actually. LOL It's just my last day of freedom from having to cart the kids back and forth to school, going to the gym, etc. I'm just as apprehensive about starting my routine again as I am looking forward to it. I have a lot of work ahead of me...not only to get my butt back in gear again, but to work off the extra 1.5 pounds that I put on over the holiday. I am lucky to a certain degree, I could have gained more in 2 weeks with minimal exercise and a lot of eating. I sure did let myself go though I was quite motivated not to. I guess it's hard during the holidays with just so much food, candy, etc. I will have to do better next year and get my mindset in the right place. I have been letting my 7pm eating cut-off slide...so it's time for me to stop that.

Obviously, no exercise today. Tomorrow will be an "ease back into it" day with just some racquetball with my husband. Wednesday will be another non-work out day since I'm babysitting for my friend in the morning. It should be a mild day, I should make an attempt to at least go for a walk. We'll see. Thursday will be a full on work out day. That's the day that I'm the most apprehensive about...but I just pumped my iPod full of new tunes so at least that's something to look forward to.

Diet:
Breakfast: Bowl of Special K w/Vanilla & Almond w/2% milk
Lunch: 1/2 bowl of chicken noodle soup, bagel sandwich w/hot sweet mustard, 2 slices each of 98% fat free turkey & ham, 1 slice of processed swiss cheese
Water: 2 11 oz. glasses
Snack: 3 hershey kisses w/peanut butter
Dinner: 90% of a grilled chicken sandwich from chili's, a full serving of fries w/ranch dressing

Sunday-A Day Of Rest

Happy Freaking New Year.

I'm ticked off, disappointed in my eating habits the past few days and so far, 2006 hasn't been all that great. So, I'll just apologize for being a tad annoying in this post.

No, I didn't work out today. I had 5 loads of laundry to do, 2 overtired kids that decided they would prefer to be a total pain than pleasant all day and I had no motivation or desire to do anything other than cry. I might put in the new weight loss Pilates DVD that I just got. Maybe not. I just want ice cream. LOL

Diet:
Breakfast: 3 medium pancakes, very small scoop of scrambled eggs
Water: 1 .5 L water
Lunch: plate of homemade nachos w/beef burrito mixture on it. Salsa
Water: 1 11oz glass
Dinner: 1 beef burrito left over
Water: 2 11oz glasses
Dessert: 6 hershey kisses

The scale didn't speak. I didn't get on today. Fearing tomorrow.
